Distractions begone...the time is Now!

I have been wanting to start this new blog for sometime now.  Some how scanning Pinterest for "creative inspiration" and Facebook to "keep in touch" with friends seemed to take up my spare time and so this blog has been put off.  It is amazing that after all these years of recognizing all my little tricks to distract myself from doing what I want to do or what I am suppose to do (meaning my heart really wants to do it) I still  find new ways to avoid, distract, and procrastinate from doing the things I really want to do.

Meaningful Living Now means doing it now not later.  If there is something you have been wanting to do or try, look and see where you are spending your time.  What is preventing you from trying out that new thing?  My favorites are reading ( I don't mean just one good book.  I mean book after book after book), T.V, computer and all it has to offer.
Here are some tips for getting away from distractions and doing something NOW:

1. Acknowledge that Nagging feeling that you would like to do something and keep putting it off.

2. Notice how much time you are spending on something else especially when you are not benefiting from it  (could be as simply as to much T.V. to being wrapped up in a friend or family drama).

3. Take a break from the distraction for one day and see how much time you have to contribute to what you want to do.

4. To many things on your list of things to do? Take it from a mental list to a physical list and start with the quickest and easiest thing to do.  I love to check off a list!

5. Most importantly, enjoy the experience you have allowed yourself.  It is important that you notice how great if feels to do what your heart has been wanting you to do.  It feels great doesn't it?!  That nagging, uneasy feeling goes away and you feel good.

This is an Intention Bell. The little card that came with it says, "The intention behind this bell is to "call" the word attached into being and let it's energy fill you, spreading outward through you".  I hang this one with the word Now on it, on the rear view mirror of my car.  Every time the bell rings (bumps in the road and if the music isn't too loud so I can hear it) it reminds me to come back into the moment, into nowI found mine in a little store called New Moon Haven in Catalina, AZ and they come with different words on them and make great gifts  They are from so you can try the website for more information.

Meaningful living now, is really just doing the things that matter to you and bring you joy and sometime we need to teach ourselves how to do that.  Take that first step!

Thanks for visiting Meaningful Living Now and please feel free to contact me.

  1. This is so me! I have this list of things I want to do but I have so many things that get in the way of my actually doing them. I love lists, too, because when I'm done with the list I feel like I can have 'free time'. Maybe I just need to ADD the new things I want to do to the list! And maybe by not adding computer or TV, they won't be such a distraction. Going to do this tomorrow! Thanks!
